I studied and worked for twenty years in the field of criminology and am a member of the American Society of Criminology with a range of relevant experience:
- Study of the geography of crime at the undergraduate level, including a year studying at the Sorbonne, Paris and writing a dissertation on French crime trends.
- A Masters degree in Criminology, with a dissertation based on interviews around recreational drug use.
- Qualitative research into the fear of crime at Northumbria University.
- Six years working on UK Home Office crime reduction programs, including a year's secondment to the Home Office research and analysis team to establish a regional research team in the East of England.
- Over eleven years writing and editing reports and board papers with colleagues, academics, and data analysts to provide an evidence base and proposals for action on crime.
